The traditional Festa della Castagna of Badia Prataglia, the chestnut village in the heart of the Foreste Casentinesi national park, celebrates the late-October harvest over a weekend. Gastronomic stands open at midday serving chestnut-based specialties such as brice (roast chestnuts), baloci, baldino (chestnut cake) and polenta, as well as local tortelli alla lastra. The festival is a warm autumn gathering that also marks the start of short excursions and walks in the surrounding beech and chestnut woods of the forest.
