An autumn guided excursion through the centuries-old chestnut groves (castagneti) of the Pratomagno around Ortignano Raggiolo, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages. The walk follows woodland trails connecting traditional terraces, seccatoi (chestnut-drying houses) and the Ecomuseo della Castagna, telling the story of a crop that once fed the whole valley. It is a typical seasonal appointment of the Castagnatura period, when the chestnut harvest and its transformation are celebrated on the slopes above the village.
